Hey, so for Watcher fans who may not wanna pay for another subscription or just wanna watch something new here are some other youtubers you should take a look at if you want to get a spook or learn some history
(* = potentially triggering topics covered usually associated with crimes, so be careful)
Ghost Hunting and general spooky vibes:
AmysCrypt - Your typical ghost hunting show with two Australians traveling the world, though I will say they do go to places I've never heard of before and they do very good research. And there are some goofs along with the spooks.
The Ouija Brothers - Two British dudes finding ghosts in England. The vibes are generally pretty chill and it's a good time
The Paranormal Scholar - A mixed bag of all paranormal happenings from ghosts to demons to cryptids and aliens. Sort of an overview to deepdives on various paranormal occurrences. The research is immaculate and their voice is very soothing in my opinion.
Paranormal Quest - Ghost hunting in the US, sometimes goofy sometimes serious, but they do go to some interesting places and some familiar ones too
Weird History:
ObsoleteOddity* - This guy is great, like 80% of the things he covers I've never heard of before. Very atmospheric, fun little visuals, and a large variety of weird events and people for topics.
Georgia Marie* - A little bit of everything, but she focuses on strange things that have happened, lgbt history, true crime, and historical disasters. She covers enough of everything that I'm sure you'll find something
Stefanie Valentine* - I'm not sure if she even posts anymore, but I thought what she was doing was great. Think Vampira or Elvira but for older true crime and ghost stories, I think the latest covered would have been like early 1900s. Idk I just thought it was like a cute spooky lil storytime
Caitlin Doughty or Ask A Mortician* - Pretty sure y'all would know who she is but just in case, she's a mortician who covers topics relating to death! From odd ways people have died, or odd things that have happened to people after they've died. And just odd or tragic things that have happened through history. It's silly, but done with levity and care and respect the topics deserve.
General History:
Part-Time Explorer - Mostly history on ships and ghost towns with the occasional train. Lots of research and interviews, very well done and worth checking out even if it may not be your thing.
History's Forgotten People - Talks about sometimes obscure, or sometimes not, historical individuals. Even if you've heard of the person in the topic, they'll talk on something obscure about that person.
History Tea Time with Lindsay Holiday - A heavy focus on royalty around the world, a generally upbeat dive into historic individuals.
(Or you could always go watch time team, that's an option and it's my guilty pleasure love me some archeology)
True Crime:
There are so many out there, so I'll just recommend two of my favorites
Gabulosis* - She focuses on vintage cases 20 years or older (literally in her opener) and is well researched and respectful. Another one that talks on cases I've never heard of that deserve to be heard.
Mysterious WV* - True crime and missing persons based in the West Virginia area and neighboring states. Idk how to even explain the vibes. This guy is just great please watch him trust me you won't be disappointed.
That's all for now, feel free to add your own recs out there!

Curate your YouTube search and recommendations
Tell me if you've had this problem before. You click on some video, any video, looking at something positive. And all of a sudden, you're spammed with dozens of negative videos in your recommendations. And no matter how many “Not interested” or “Don't recommend channel” that you click, YouTube still forces them on you. Or maybe you're looking for something in YouTube search, but you get too much clickbait videos, or hate-watch videos? And you have to scroll through everything?
Or maybe people have used different tags to force them into your search options, giving you tons of options that aren't related to what you are searching for. Wouldn't it be nice if you could block these channels and videos the same way you block people on social media?
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, YouTube's existence relies on Ad revenue exclusively, hence why their channel blockers won't work, and reporting channels or videos won't accomplish anything if those channels and videos don't harm YouTube's reputation or ad revenue.
The larger a channel gets, the less chance of YouTube taking action against them. Hence why very large hate-channels and videos will swarm into searches.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, there are tools called Browser Extensions or Add-Ons that allow you to have your browsers be able to add that specific block button option.
But...wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to look for those tools? Why do we need such an option? Why can't YouTube give us that option in the first place?
In any case, the resources DO exist. You just have to look for them on Google Search. Blocktube is one such tool, and you can look it up on Google Search to confirm what I have shown here.
I know that for Phones you’ll need something called Youtube Vanced, also researchable on Google.
Credit goes to https://www.tumblr.com/rwby-cinder-blog/620199907993714688
I’m just sick and tired of YouTube not doing a thing about a glaring problem on its increasingly problematic platform.
Edit: Dear people who are upset with hogwarts legacy? These tools are for you.

New favorite video unlocked
If you guys ever have the time or just need 2 hours to kill, I highly recommend watching this entire video (and I mean it, the entire video)
It’s well edited, very thought out, and overall absolutely hilarious! Plus there’s some things that I didn’t even know or think about before watching, double plus that there’s some new stuff that as far as I know was released pretty recently! :D

Good news on the Recycling Front (recycling the polyester in cotton/poly blend fabrics): recent science.
Yesterday (27 September, 2023) I watched this video: Why you can't Recycle Your Pants (until now). And it gave me a reason to be potentially optimistic.
Summary: Getting into the nitty-gritty of the chemistry science (with molecular diagrams and all), the video host explains why it is so hard to recycle so much cotton/polyester blend fabrics (which is why so many clothes, and other fabrics, end up in landfills).
Basically, in order to recycle polyester (a poly-mer), you have to break it down into a mono-mer, so you can put the bits back together into a new polymer. But in a cotton/polyester blend fabric, we haven't been able to do that without destroying the cotton fibers, and ending up with waste, anyway.
In this video, the host goes through an article from ACS: Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering (17 July, 2023) and describes the experiment of how scientists managed to break down polyester in a cotton blend fabric -- without destroying the cotton.
And then, he tries to replicate their experiment, and (after a couple of tries), appears to succeed -- in his own kitchen, using a cut up tee-shirt and a toaster oven.
This technique has not been scaled up -- yet -- and is not a ready solution -- yet. But it's a big step in the right direction.

I don't have enough youtube to watch so I'm gunna recommend some channels to you and then you gotta recommend some channels to me ok?
Pawsbuild: I followed him for his planet zoo content cause I love that game. He just finished building a massive "ethical zoo" that's really cool. But he also plays other similar simulation games like Manor Lords and Jurassic World Evolution 2. Just chill videos.
Serpadesign: A guy who builds terrariums and vivariums. He owns a lot of fish and frogs and such and builds very loving homes for them. Does a lot of update videos so you can see how the environments have done over time.
Peter Brown: Funny crafty guy. He's a big dork and loves resin and using the lathe but he semi recently got a laser engraver. He's pretty funny and makes lots of strange things.
Brutal Moose: Mixture of food reviews and retro stuff like weird older shows movies and games. Kinda a little of everything. Most notable thing is his editing style. He's pretty straight faced with over the top editing gags.
Imamu Room: A japanese mom living in canada who makes cooking videos. She doesn't speak in the videos but has edited in subtitles talking about what shes doing usually. Cute and homey videos with lots of interesting food.
Crafsman Steady Craftin: The Nicest Sweetest guy you'll ever see. Crafsman makes all sorts of crafts but his main interest is toys and animation. Does a lot of stuff with resin but his channel covers a little of everything tbh. He makes all the music in his videos. Tons of tutorials. A soft and wonderful voice. If you don't look at anyone else on this list I recommend Crafsman the most.

today on "YouTube videos that more than earn the title of Documentary"
youtube
i already love the other video he made about GF, and as someone who was a fan of the show when it came out but didn't participate in this event at the time, this video is such a cool experience! besides talking to Alex Hirsch, Keyan also went out of his way to interview people who might not have even realized their involvement in the hunt at the time, and uncovered information that definitely would have been lost were it not for this video. highly recommended!

Any chance you know of some good archaeology/history youtube channels? Everytime i try searching i just get aliens and atlantis garbage
First and foremost in my heart will always be Time Team. This is a tv program that does three day digs in the UK, and it has some of the most realistic archaeology I've yet to find on tv. You can watch old episodes for free on their official YouTube channel (linked above)
I personally enjoy the historical programing done by the American Battlefield Trust. It's very Civil War-centric, and it does fall into the very politically-middle-of-the-road category that a lot of military organizations do, but they're good for what they are.
Tasting history is pretty much exactly what it sounds like! Think B Dylan Hollis, but maybe less sass and cooking as well as baking.
Karolina Żebrowska is one of the best and funniest historical fashion YouTubers I've yet to come across. Iconic, truly.
Janet Stephens does EXPERIMENTAL HAIR ARCHAEOLOGY! Basically, she finds out how to accurately recreate incredibly complex hairstyles from the past based on art. She's awesome.
Modern History TV is my go to for all things Medieval. He does a great job demonstrating the ins and outs of everyday Medieval life.
Enjoy, -Reid
